Default Social bookmarking

Hi all - could really do with some assistance

There's a new post here on the Multilingual PR forums What are the best social bookmarking sites? - Multilingual PR Forums

we're trying to sort the wheat from chaff as there are just so many social bookmarking sites now - and they are excellent for online PR and link building.

Please can you give your recommendations?

Yes Jenny,

In terms of receiving any "link value" from social bookmarking where the link is SEO friendly, I would have a look at this article on Search Engine Journal which lists the top 10.

Hi,
the Social aspect of search and online promotion is unexplored territory today: I come to this conclusion by the sway of opinion and users from one service to another - hence a word of caution on investing massive amounts of time (=money) into bookmarking efforts.

Take it one step at a time.

How ? First of all I believe you need to carefully evaluate your visibility needs:
  • Who are your potential users
  • What are their expectations
  • what con you provide them
  • How does your website (or blog) fit into their search online activities

I'm not one to believe much in Digg traffic - it's quantity not quality.

The move to integrate del.icio.us bookmarks into organic search by YAHOO! will most likely give a boost this bookmarking service

Experiment with other services like Magnolia, reditt and see how what kind of response you get.

Stuumbleupon can generate nice stream of traffic, but then again it very much depends on your line of business - B2C or B2B

Agreed sjachille.

Social bookmarking does consume a lot of time, so what action is taken needs to have an actual return. That is why I suggested social bookmarking services which don't use nofollow which could compliment the organic SEO campaign.

I must say I do get quite a bit of SU traffic.

I have had some major stuff on my blog with some nice link referrals, but no one has bothered to bookmark my site

I really enjoy the fact that stumble upon is sending what seems to be more consistency with traffic..... Overall I would suggest creating account there and continuing with both digg and stumbleupon resources.
