Default Paid links

Those are obviously paid for links - so does that mean we think it puts the performance of the site at risk if discovered - especially for Google?

Yes surely Andy,
Webmasters are at a great risk as far google is concerned. Google really sucks the ranking of sites when it comes to paid linking on any site whether in the form of its own program or some one you can say third party.....

No, personally I would not condone paid links and that is buying or selling. Many webmasters have moaned at this saying that Google is just wanting you to use Adsense. So what if it does? Google is a privately owned company and if you want that traffic from Google, then I suggest you obey it's rules.

Yes you put clients at risk if you are discovered. A rival can easily file a spam report against you.

I see a lot of moaning coming from sites like Search Engine Land. I am sorry, but I thought these people were supposed to be good SEO's. Buying links is lazy, you need a good link building campaign and good PR.

I am pretty much in line with what Liam has just stated - in my experience when you do things properly you'll see people get ahead of you - that's true, but I have also seen many competitors disappear just as fast - it takes time and patience to achieve long lasting organic placement and many are not willing to do it properly.

I haven't had the opportunity to see what's going on as Searchengineland lately so I cannot comment on what's happening there
